There are two types of telecoms provider, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Value Added Resellers (VARs). We are an MSP. MSPs offer technology services, for a recurring fee and usually provide both the infrastructure and implementation, and their core proposition is to help customers use and manage their technology services on an ongoing basis. MSP offerings typically include network management, hardware repair, remote support, server and software updates, and any other function that requires a commitment to day-to-day administration to keep things running smoothly. VARs often operate on a one-time transactional basis, MSPs operate on longer-term contracts and the tenure of their relationship is open-ended; they can expect to stick around indefinitely. As a result, MSPs are able to plan their current and future pricing strategies more effectively than VARs. It is important End Users understand the lack of commercial and technical responsibility that VARs hold and do not make the mistake of investing in a marked-up service from what is essentially a middle-man.

If you are programming orientated, downloading an open-source PBX can be great fun and even save you a lot of money. However, in a live, business-critical environment, the commitment can be daunting, frustrating at times and very time-consuming, which is why we provide the end-to-end Maintenance of THEVOIPEXP™ (The VoIP Experience). In truth, it can be relatively easy to get started with building a commercial PBX with the FreePBX Distro. The real work comes after the initial setup: The adds, moves, changes and the configuration of your PBX. It needs to be built securely to help prevent the threat of telephony fraud and updated like any other cloud-based server. And the inevitable fault investigations need extremely swift resolution, or implementation of your resilience plan within seconds.
